If you plot the point -8.85 on a number line, would you place it to the left or the right of -8.8? Explain.

You would place -8.85 to the LEFT of -8.8 because -8.8 is practically the same as -8.80. And so since -8.85 is higher in negative value, it would be farther to the left than that of -8.80.
