Answer:

3 package of cups and 4 packages of napkins

Explanation:

Given: sixty people are invited to a party.There are 24 cups in a package and 18 napkins in a package.

To Find: least number of packages of cups and napkins that can be bought if each party guest gets one cup and one napkin.

Solution:

Number of cups in a package =
24

Number of napkins in a package =
18

let total number of package of cups be =
\text{x}

equation of total cups bought =
24*\text{x}

let total number of package of napkins be =
\text{y}

equation of total napkins bought =
18*\text{y}

Total people invited to the party =
60

as party guest gets one cup and one napkin

total cups required =
60

total package of cups bought

24*\text{x}
60

\text{x}
(60)/(24)

\text{x}
2.5

number of package should be an integer therefore
\text{x}=3

total napkins required =
60

18*\text{y}
60

\text{y}
(10)/(3)

as number of package are integer y must be 4

Least number of packages of cups bought are 3 and napkins is 4
