you can solve this using the Pythagorean theorem:
a^2 +b^2= C^2
in order words
cv^2 + cu^2 = uv^2
10^2=100
12^2=144
100 + 144 = 244
√244 = 2√61 or 15.62049935 or 15.62 for short
