well lets start with x = 1 so 1 x 2 = 2 + 10 x 1 = 10 + 12
2 + 10 + 12 = 24 so x doesn't equal 1
lets try x = 2
2 x 2 = 4
10 x 2 = 20
4 + 20 + 12 = 36 so X = 2

Solve x2 + 10x + 12 = 36 for x.
