8x-14+4x+1=59. 12x-13=59. 12x=72. x=6. plug 6 in for x.

EF = 8x-14. 8(6)-14. 48-14. EF=37.

FG = 4x+1. 4(6) +1. 24 +1. FG=25.

add the two equations together and set them equal to 59. then plug in your answer for x
