A grocery store sells twelve bottles of water for $13.80. A convenience store sells ten bottles of water for $11.80.

Which store has the better buy? Explain?

To find out the price per bottle, divide the total cost by the number of water bottles.

Grocery Store: Price per bottle=$13.80÷12
=$1.15

Convenience Store:
Price per bottle=$11.80÷10
=$1.18

The grocery store has the better buy because the price per bottle is cheaper.

Grocery store:

price per bottle = 13.80/12 = $1.15 per bottle

Convenience store:

price per botttle = 11.80/10 = $1.18 per bottle

The grocery store is cheaper, as the cost per bottle is lower.
