3/5 + 1/4 = 12/20 + 5/20 = 17/20 wore either blue or white

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that on Friday, a certain part of students wore blue shirts and another part wore white shirts.

We have to find the fraction of the students wore either a blue shirt or white shirt

Since one student cannot wear both the shirts, it is sufficient to add the two fractions given for each colour.

Students who wore either a blue shirt or white shirt=sum of both fractions given

=
(3)/(5) +(1)/(4) \\=(17)/(20)
