Need to put the numbers together and the x's together. When you move whatever across the equal sign it changes its sign. For example, if something is positive and you move it over the equal sign it becomes negative. After that you need to solve both sides and then divide the answer.

8x+5=3x+15
8x-3x+5=15
8x-3x=15-5
5x=10
x=10/5
x=2

8x + 5 = 3x + 15 |subtract 5 from both sides

8x = 3x + 10 |subtract 3x from both sides

5x = 10 |divide both sides by 5

x = 2
