-4v + 3(w + 2v) - 5w
v = -2; w = -4
subtitute
-4 · (-2) + 3 · [-4 + 2 · (-2)] - 5 · (-4)
= 8 + 3 · (-4 - 4) + 20
= 8 + 3 · (-8) + 20
= 8 - 24 + 20
= -16 + 20
= 4
