LCM stands for the least common multiples.

The multiples of 4 are given by:

4,8,12,16,20,24,\textcolor{green}{28},32

The multiples of 7 are given by:

7,14,21,\textcolor{green}{28},35

Notice that the number 28, colored green, is the smallest number that is a multiple of both 4 and 7.

Therefore, the lcm of 4 and 7 is 28.
