What is 8/9 divided by 4/9 please explain

You have to do the reciprocal of 4/9 which becomes 8/9 * 9/4.

Then cut out the nines and as eight is a multiple of four, it can also be cut out.
so, the final answer would be,

2/1

Ok so the first thing you want to do is to flip your second fraction, which makes your problem a multiplication problem rather than division. So, (8/9) / (4/9) = (8/9) * (9/4). Once this is done, just multiply across. This becomes (8/9) * (9/4) = (72/36). There is also an easier way. Instead of multiplying across, you can see how a nine is in the top of one fraction and the bottom of the other. If you see something like this, the numbers cancel each other out. So, (8/9) * (9/4) = (8/4). Divide that and you get 2.
