The ideas of Montesquieu, a French writer, influenced the Founding Fathers to create a government where no one person or part had too much power. Why did this idea appeal to the Founding Fathers? They had experienced the rule of a tyrant. They liked the way Louis XVI governed France. They wanted to make sure government was powerful. They believed Montesquieu's plan was the best.

The ideas of Montesquie, the French philosopher and writer, influenced the Founding Fathers to create a government where no one person or part had too much power because they had experienced the rule of a tyrant previously under the rule of a king as an imperial colony.
