In one baseball season, Peter hit twice the difference of the number of home runs Alice hit and 6. Altogether, they hit 18 home runs. How many home runs did each player hit that season?

P = 2(A - 6)
P + A = 18

sub eq 1 into eq 2
2(A - 6) + A = 18
2A - 12 + A = 18
3A - 12 = 18
3A = 18 + 12
3A = 30
A = 30/3
A = 10 <=== Alice hit 10

P = 2(A - 6)
P = 2(10 - 6)
P = 2(4)
P = 8 <=== Peter hit 8
