Given

m(x)=2x-10

You have to find x for m(x)=-4

To do so you have to equal the expression to -4 and solve for x

-4=2x-10

Pass "-10" to the other side of the expression by performing the inverse operation to both sides of it, that is, to add 10

\begin{gathered} -4+10=2x-10+10 \\ 6=2x \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by 2 to determine the value of x

\begin{gathered} (6)/(2)=(2x)/(2) \\ 3=x \end{gathered}

So for m(x)=-4, x=3
