The Berlin Crisis in 1961 occurred at the end of the first phase of the Cold War and the main point of disagreement was over the free access of Britain, the US and France to West Berlin - the USSR wanted to limit access to it only when they permitted it. Previously, borders between East and West Germany were easy to cross, but the USSR wanted to change this. The crisis led to the erection of the Berlin Wall.
