Full question:

A recipe calls for 2 cups of milk for every 6 1/4 cups of flour. If you increase the flour to 43 3/4 cups, how many cups of milk will you use?

Answer:

14 cups of milk

Explanation:

The question can be rephrased how many 6 1/4 cups of flour can we get in 43 3/4 cups of flour so that we find how many cups of milk required

6 1/4 = 25/4.

Also, 43 3/4 = 175/4

We could now divide 175/4 by 25/4 to get how many 6 1/4 cups of flour are in 43 3/4 cups of flour = 175/4 / 25/4 = 175/4×4/25= 7

This means that we have seven 6 1/4 cups of flour, therefore we require 7×2 = 14 cups of milk (given that we require 2 cups of milk for every 6 1/4 cups of flour)
