David has a new odometer on his bike that records the distance he travels in both miles and kilometers. When the odometer reads 15 miles, it also reads 24.15 kilometers. If the odometer reads 60 miles, what will it read in kilometers? Explain your solution using plenty of details

Given that when the odometer reads 15 miles, it also reads 24.15 kilometers, we can write it as;

15miles = 24.15 kilometers

Now if the odometer reads 60 miles, we are to determine what it will read in kilometers. This can be expressed as;

60 miles = y kilometers

Equating both;

15miles = 24.15 kilometers

60 miles = y kilometers

Cross multiply

15y = 60 * 24.15

y = (60*24.15)/15

y = 1449/15

y = 96.6kilometers

Hence the odometers will read 96.6km
