Answer:
9(3)/(4)\text{ ounces}

Explanation:

Given : The initial amount of the water when Carrie started her walk = 12 ounces

The amount of water after she finished her walk =
2(1)/(4)\text{ ounces}=(9)/(4)}\text{ ounces}

Then , the water she had drunk is given by :-

12-(9)/(4)=(48-9)/(4)\\\\=(39)/(4)=9(3)/(4)

Hence, the amount of water she had drunk =
=9(3)/(4)\text{ ounces}

we are given with an initial value of water equal to 12 ounces of water and the final value of water is 2 1/4 or 2.25 ounces. Since the two substances are the same, we can use direct subtraction to determine what was consumed after walking. The answer is 12-2.25 equal to 9.75 ounces
