ELISA is used to detect the hormone called as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), in the urine. HCG is present if the egg has planted onto the uterus, after fertilisation. The monoclonal antibodies in the test kit are specific to the HCG ans when they sense HCG, a color chnage is observed, and you get the result.
