  • Religion was a big influence on the Magna Carta because the Church held power during that moment, it was a part of the everyday life of people. Because of that many of the demands that were written had relations to God and the Church.
  • The Magna Carta imposed legal limits on the king’s personal powers, a committee formed by 5 landlords could overrule the will of the king.
  • The Magna Carta constructed the foundation for democracy by limiting the power of the King and being the first written document that laid basic rights for people as a constitution.

The church somehow made Magna Carta. So religion has a big influence to Magna Carta. The Magna Carta limited King John to abuse his power like giving impossible and unreasonable taxes. The Magna Carta became a foundation for democracy since it allowed people to stand before a judge before being declared guilty.
