A rug maker is using a pattern that is a rectangle with a length of 96 inches and a width of 60 inches. The rug maker wants to increase each dimension by a different amount. Let l and w be the increases in inches and the length and width. Write and simplify an expression for the perimeter of the new pattern.

since you already have length and width all you have to do is 96/60 which is 1.6

Answer:

Original Rectangle

Length=96 inches

Breadth =60 inches

Transformed Rectangle

New Length= (96+l) inches

New Breadth=(60+w) inches

Perimeter of New rectangle =2 × (New Length +New Breadth)

=2 ×(96+l+60+w)

=2×(156+l+w)

=(312+2l+2w) Inches
