Angioplasty is the procedure wherein the obstructed arteries are mechanically widened and this is the common treatment for atherosclerosis. An aneurysm is an excessive localized enlargement of the artery caused by the weakening of the arterial walls. Angioplasty is an incorrect treatment for aneurysm because this would worsen the condition and can lead to death if the aneurysm bursts due to the pressure applied by the widening of the arteries.
