In humans, a combination of XX chromosomes results in a female zygote and that of XY results in a male zygote. From whom does a male zygote inherit an X chromosome? The father, mother or both?

Answer: The correct answer is -

A male zygote inherit an X chromosome from mother.

Step-by-step explanation:

Human males have XY chromosome whereas females have XX chromosomes in their genome.

During gamete formation, such as in males, each sex chromosome separates into their gametes that are X and Y, which fuse with the female gametes (that contain only X chromosome) to form zygote.

A female zygote inherits X chromosome from each parent that is from father and mother.

On the contrary, male child inherits X chromosome from mother and Y chromosome from father.

Thus, mother is the right answer.
