Ross has been hiking many times this summer.

What is the sentence’s complete action verb?

Leslie  could have joined  an elite group of racers.

Which are the helping verbs in the underlined verb phrase?

As far as the first sentence is concerned we can easily find out the complete action verbs. The sentence given is “Ross has been hiking many times this summer”. In respect to this sentence, the action verb is “hiking”. In respect to the second sentence which is “Leslie could have joined an elite group of racers”, the helping verbs are “could have”. There are several helping verbs that can be remembered very easily such as shall, will, do , must, might etc.
