Okay leave to whole one alone. Now divide the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number) 1÷4=.25 now add the whole one to it and it would be 1.25. Answer:1÷4=.25, 1+.25=1.25

its 1.25
since the fraction is out of fourths, consider it as a quarter. 1 quarter equals .25
and the whole is 1 whole dollar. 1 whole dollar is made up of 4 quarters.
there for 1 1/4 is equal to 1.25
