Answer:

The correct answer would be none of the above.

Viruses generally reproduce by the process of infection.

They infect the target or host cell and use their resources and machinery for production of their own components such as genome and protein capsid.

The whole process can be divided into seven stages:

  • Adsorption
  • Entry of viral DNA or RNA
  • Uncoating
  • Transcription of viral genome
  • Synthesis of viral components
  • Assembly of virion
  • Release of progeny

Sometimes, virus goes under dormant state in which viral genome gets incorporated into the host DNA and keeps spreading with host cell reproduction. This dormant state is called as lysogenic phase. The incorporated DNA is termed as prophage (in case of bacteriophage).

Under some conditions the prophage or the viral DNA gets activated and come out of the host DNA. It then switch to the lytic cycle and resume the remaining steps of viral reproduction (transcription, protein synthesis, assembly and release or lysis of host cell).

I have checked all of that. And I think that you should choose none of the above. Because viruses reproduce by lytic or lysogenic.
