To solve for the percent increase of a population:

201000\longrightarrow237180

New Population = 237,180

Old population = 201,000

\begin{gathered} \text{percentage increase=}(new-old)/(old)*(100)/(1) \\ \text{ \%}increase=(237180-201000)/(201000)*(100)/(1) \end{gathered}

To evaluate the percentage increase:

\begin{gathered} \text{ \%increase=}\frac{\text{36180}}{201000}*(100)/(1) \\ \text{ \%increase=}\frac{\text{3618000}}{201000} \\ \text{ \%increase =18 \%} \end{gathered}

Hence the percent increase = 18%
