A theater sells a combo pack of popcorn, a soft drink, and a movie ticket for $12. For groups of five or greater, the theater gives a group discount of $3 per person. What is the total cost for a class of 30 students?

12 X 30 = 360. 3 X 30 = 90. 360 - 90 = 270. The total cost for a class of 30 students is $270.

If C is cost and S is number of students, the mathematical sentence is: C = S X 12 - (S X 3).
