Explanation:

If you can add the equations together and eliminate a variable, elimination is a good method to use. If you can't do that, then the next method you can try is substitution, if you can rewrite one of the equations to solve for a variable and then insert the new equation in the second equation to solve for one of the variables, then you should use substitution. Otherwise, I'd graph the problem, and find the intersection of the two lines which would be my solution.
