Given:

A car can travel 3.5 km on 30 litres of petrol.

To find:

The distance a car can cover if it has 50 litres of petrol in its tank.

Solution:

We have,

On 30 litres, a car can travel = 3.5 km

On 1 litre, a car can travel =
(3.5)/(30) km

On 50 litres, a car can travel =
(3.5)/(30)* 50 km

=
(3.5)/(3)* 5 km

=
(17.5)/(3) km

\approx 5.83 km

Therefore, a car can travel 5.83 km on 50 litres.
