If a gas tank can hold 30 gallons, how many gallons does it contain when it is three-fifths full?

(30)/(1) = (3)/(5), so you insert the proportion and get 18. When the tank is three-fifths full, it contains 18 gallons of gas.

18 Gallons. Divide 30 by 5, Then multiply by 3 and you get the answer.
