315 miles-5 hours
X miles-9 hours
X=315·9:5=2 835:5=567 miles

315/5 = x/9....315 miles to 5 hrs = x miles to 9 hrs
cross multiply
(5)(x) = (315)(9)
5x = 2835
x = 2835/5
x = 567
He will drive 567 miles in 9 hrs
