just treat 'i' as a placeholder (I know that it represents √-1, but just add 'i' as if it were a placeholder becaseu that is what it is.)

(3+i)-(2-2i)

distribute
3+i-2+2i
group
3-2+i+2i=
1+3i

answer is A

Answer:

Option a. 1 3i

Explanation:

We have to simplify the expression ( 3 + i ) - ( 2 - 2i)

To solve this expression we will open the parenthesis first.

Since negative sign is given outside the parenthesis so negative sign will change all the signs inside the parenthesis when opened.

( 3 + i ) - ( 2 - 2i ) = 3 + i - 2 + 2i

Now we solve the like terms. If they are of same sign like terms will add and if they are of opposite sign they will get subtracted.

so, 3 + i - 2 + 2i = ( 3i + 1 )

Option a. 1 3i is the answer.
