What are the mean and the mode of the following sets of data 5 12 1 5 7

To find the mean (average), u add up all ur numbers, then divide by how many numbers there are.
mean = (5 + 12 + 1 + 5 + 7) / 5 = 30/5 = 6

To find the mode (and there does not have to be one)...u find the number that is used the most. That number would be 5...because it is used twice, whereas, the other numbers are just used once.

Mean: Average of numbers in a set of data.

STEP 1: To find the mean of these numbers, we first have to add the numbers

up and get our sum. In this case, we would add 5 + 12 + 1 + 5 + 7 = 30

STEP 2: Divide the sum by the number of digits you added. We would divide

30 "sum of the numbers" by 5 "number of digits" and we would get a quotient of 6

The mean for this set of data is 6

Mode: The number that occurs most often in a set of numbers.

Looking at our numbers, we can see that the number 5 appears twice in the set and no other numbers appear more than once. This means that our mode for our set of numbers is 5

The mode for this set of data is 5
