Answer:

The correct answer is option D. Psychologists would not subject an animal used in research to pain, stress, or hardship, when the goal is justified by the potential for recognition. Animals being used for scientific researches is a topic that is constantly under scrutiny for its ethical controversies. Psychologists may accept putting an animal under stress of pain when an alternative procedure in unavailable, or when the goal is justified because of its educational, health, or scientific value, but not because the result may get recognition from the community.

1. I am definitely sure that intellectualism is not a goal of psychology. As a science, psychology doesn't try to intellectualize ideas. If my memory serves me well, four goals of psychology are: - To DESCRIBE behavior; - To PREDICT person's behavior in the future; - To CONTROL behavior and mental processes; - To EXPLAIN behavior and mental processes;

2. According to the four main goals of psychology that were mentioned before, the answer should be: Psychologists need to decide how they will measure the phenomenon they are interested in so that they can describe that phenomenon.

3. As far as I remember A. casual observation is the most commonly used form of research to observe animals in the wild. Casual observation is the way of researching others in a haphazard way. Is a way to detect stereotypes without seeing the exceptions. It's very important in behavioral studies.

4. I am completely sure that the way that researchers collect data makes psychological research scientific. Psychological research uses both research and scientific methods to collect data. There many variables that need to be defined accurately.
