It isn't possible for the dependent variable to cause a change in the independent variable. The scores will not cause a change either. The answer to this question will be the hypothesis. That will be C.

Hypothesis shows the relationship between two variables that can be tested. It is called "cause-effect" relationship. The cause is independent variable and the effect is dependent variable. The change in the independent variable has an effect in the dependent variable and vice-versa is not correct. The scores are dependent variables itself. Something might cause to change it, not the dependent variable. To sum up, if there is a change in the dependent variable, it causes a change in the hypothesis.
