The answers are as follows:
1. D
'energetic and cheerful' both modify the subject as adjectives.

2. D
'cold' describes the subject as well.

3. B
A predicate nominative is always a noun or a pronoun. Since heppy is an adjective, the answer is B.

A predicate adjective is an adjective that follows a linking verb and modifies (i.e., refers back to) the subject of the linking verb. So 1 would be D, because they're adjectives describing the subject (the hikers)
