What is the sum of 5x2y and (2xy2 + x2y)?

We can only combine 5x²y and x²y because they have the same variables. Combining like terms,
Sum = 5x²y + (2xy² + x²y)
Sum = (5x²y + x²y) + 2xy²
Siimplifying,
Sum = 6x²y + 2xy²
Thus, the sum of the expressions given above is 6x²y + 2xy².
