Libya and Grenada
Libya
-Libya was attacked from the air in 1986. The taking over of the country occurred shortly with the Reagan administration. The bombardment of Libya occurred as the African head of state, Khadafy refused to pay the monetary compensation from the terrorist attack on a Disco in Berlin in the same year.
The Operation "El Dorado Canyon" was the name given to initiative in defense of the American interests. Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was a strong anti-Israel ruler, thus Reagan had also interest in reinforcing power and cooperation to Israel Allie.
Grenada
-The United States attack of Grenada started in 1983. The operations resulted in a US victory within some days. The initiative name was Operation Urgent Fury. This ended Mauricio Bishop rules and established a puppet government in the region. The American perspective was that of defense of American citizens living in the region, approximately 1000 at that time. And as well restoring order and democratic rules in a volatile region that came often under different military regimes.
