Alejandra correctly wrote the equation y – 3 = (x – 10) to represent a line that her teacher sketched. The teacher then changed the line so it had a slope of 2, but still went through the same point. Which equation should Alejandra write to represent the new line?

The question which ask to select among the choices the equation that Alejandria should write to represent the new line where as the equation she wrote is y-3=x-10 and the answer would be that the form in this equation is y=x-13 and if the slope is 2 then it is y=2x-13

Answer:

y - 3 = 2(x - 10)

Explanation:

Alejandra correctly wrote the equation y – 3 = (x – 10) to represent a line that her teacher sketched. The teacher then changed the line so it had a slope of 2, but still went through the same point.

y - 3 = (x - 10)

Given equation is in the form of
y-y1=m(x-x1)

y - 3 = 1(x - 10)

slope m =1 in the given equation

The teacher then changed the line so it had a slope of 2

so change the slope 1 to slope 2

y - 3 = 2(x - 10)
