The process of filtration makes use of the differences between the particle size of the components in the mixture. The mixture is allowed to pass through a semi-permiable membrane which allows the smaller particles to pass through. On the other hand, the process of distillation makes use of the differences of the relative volatilities of the substances. Size and volatility are both physical properties. Thus, the answer to this question is letter B.
