The balanced chemical reaction is:
C6H6 + 9/2O2 = 6CO + 3H2O
We are given the amount of benzene to be used for the reaction. This will be the starting point for the calculations.
23.1 g C6H6 ( 1 mol C6H6 / 78.12 g C6H6 ) ( 6 mol CO / 1 mol C6H6 ) =
1.77 mol CO is produced from the reaction
