The blood pressure in blood vessels decreases with the distance the blood travels, starting from when it was pumped out of the heart's ventricle.

Using this information, which statement correctly orders the blood pressure in the major types of blood vessels from least pressure to greatest?

a)arteries < veins < capillaries
b)capillaries < veins < arteries
c)veins < arteries < capillaries
d)veins < capillaries < arteries

The order of blood pressure in major types of blood vessels from least pressure to greatest is d) veins < capillaries < arteries.

Arteries receive blood directly from the heart and the pressure of blood in arteries is very high. This is the reason why their walls are thick and elastic so that they could withstand this high blood pressure without being punctured. Arteries carry blood away from the heart towards various tissues. Arteries further distribute blood to various capillaries which have comparatively low blood pressure. Veins on the other hand are the type of blood vessels which carry blood from various tissues towards the heart. The blood pressure in the veins is lowest among all these blood vessels.

The order of blood pressure in blood vessels would be letter "D. veins < capillaries < arteries". The arteries carry the blood towards the veins and has relatively thicker walls because of high pressure. The vein carry blood from capillaries back to the heart.
