30% of 47.50=0.3*47.5=14.25
the ending cost=33.25

Let the unknown discount be d and that it is equal to the original price multiplied by the decimal equivalent of the given percentage.
d = ($47.50) x (0.3) = $14.25
Thus, the 30% discount on $47.50 is equal to $14.25.
