The side opposite to the angle of elevation is the height of the tree and the side adjacent to it is the distance from the tree to the child. The trigonometric function appropriate for the described situation is,
tan A = opposite / adjacent = 14 ft / 7 ft
The value of A is 63.43 degrees.
