The value of x is 6 units

To determine the value of the variable x, we have to know that the formula for calculating the volume of a rectangular prism is expressed as;

V = lwh

such that the parameters of the formula are;

  • V is the volume
  • l is the length
  • w is the width
  • h is the height

Now, substitute the values, we have;

126 = x ×7 × 3

Multiply the values, we get;

126= 21x

Now, divide both sides of the equation by the coefficient of x, we have;

x = 126/21

x = 6 units

Given,

The volume of the rectangular prism is 126 unit^3.

The height of the rectangular prism is 3 units.

The breadth of the rectangular prism is 7 units.

Required:

The length of the rectangular prism.

The volume of the rectangular prism is calculated as:

Volume\text{ = length}* breadth* height

Substituting the values then,

\begin{gathered} Volume\text{ = length}* breadth* height \\ 126=7* x*3 \\ 126=21x \\ x=(126)/(21) \\ x=6 \end{gathered}

Hence, the length of the rectangular prism is 6 units.
