he was known as "liberator" because he set free
what would be known as Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia from control by Spain.

He was known as the Liberator because of his endeavors to free South American countries from the clutches of the Spanish rule. The people loved him because of this.
