Explanation:

The easiest way to find the area of of a triangle is to find the area of rectangle surrounding it, and divide by two.

In this case, we can use the bottom line and the distance from that to the top point as the side lengths of our "rectangle"

The bottom line has a length of 9, and the distance from that line to the top point is 3. We can say then that the area of the triangle is half of three times nine:

3 × 9 ÷ 2 = 3 × 4.5 = 13.5

So the total area of the triangle is 13.5 square units
