Answer-

The school spent $2400 on pencils.

Solution-

Number of pencils come in cartons of pencil box = 24

Number of cartons of pencils bought by the school = 50

So,

\text{Number of total pencils}=\text{Number of pencils in a box}* \text{Number of box}\\\\=24* 50=1200

Price of each pencil = $2

So,

\text{Total cost}=\$2\ *\ \text{Number of pencils}\\\\=\$2\ *\ 1200\\\\=\$ 2400

Therefore, the school spent $2400 on pencils.
