3x + 4y = 0
3x = -4y
x = 4y/3

5x - 6y = -38
(5*4y/3) - 6y = -38
(20y/3) - 6y = -38
(20y - 18y) / 3 = -38
2y = -114
y = -57

x = 76

Answer:

The value of x= - 4 and y = 3 .

Explanation:

As given the equations

5x – 6y = –38

3x + 4y = 0

Multiply 5x – 6y = –38 by 3

15x - 18y = -114

Mutiply 3x + 4y = 0 by 5

15x + 20y = 0

Than the two equations are

15x - 18y = -114

15x + 20y = 0

Subtracted 15x + 20y = 0 from 15x - 18y = -114 .

15x - 15x - 18y - 20y = -114

-38y = -114

y = (114)/(38)

y = 3

Putting this value in the equation

15x + 20 × 3 = 0

15x + 60 = 0

15x = -60

x = (-60)/(15)

x = -4

Therefore the value of x= - 4 and y = 3 .
